Thicker Than Water
Who does she think she is? She has the nerve to give you a position in her little crumbling empire as if it's some gift when you're sitting there with Corellia at your feet and...
Hesper. Evad interrupts his daughter with an exasperated sigh she's heard many times. It dripped with condensation. As if she were still a child and too uninformed to have an opinion. I'm most likely going to do it.
Enraged she had to fight the urge to fling her communicator at the waiter approaching her. Instead she glared him away from her. The bustling cafe was the last place she wanted to be, but the person she was meeting wanted to be here. Her father said it was a good idea. Lure them into a false sense that they were in charge. And while she was doing her father's bidding he was giving away the entire future of the Malator's. She turned away from the communicator.
Don't be petulant Hesper. Malicious is a brilliant tactician. If you believe her empire to be crumbling, it won't be for long... if it is at all.
She's too emotional. Then again so are you. I mean how many people do you have following your Jedi whore? How drunk did you get when you found out about her new man? I guess maybe it makes sense you'd team up with Malicious. You deserve each other.
Another one of those sighs from him. Time to tie up loose ends. Take care of the pest and then come home. We'll discuss this then.
His vision disappears and is nearly immediately replaced with the face of her meeting. Tell me I'm not the pest.
Wish I could. But... her words are interrupted by a firm kiss on the lips. She pushes him away. It was completely unexpected... what has gotten into him? Sure they've flirted occasionally, but nothing intimate. Then again, it was the most likely progression. Not here.
Where?
In answer she stands and heads out of the cafe him trailing behind her.

Re: Thicker Than Water
Baron pulls on his pants as Hesper zips up her dress. The small personal shuttle had been a little cramped but she didn't want to be seen with him in public. And while he knew he had her wrapped around his finger he wouldn't press the issue.
Did he feel bad she was practically half his age? Only slightly. She was an adult and the one that had come to him at the start, so it wasn't like he was taking advantage of her... well not in that way anyway. He was using her though. She had fortune he wanted, respect he deserved, position he was entitled and, the thing he liked most, daddy issues. You're perfect, he grinned at her and she blushed.
I was surprised you came.
Really? You know i'm always willing to kill me an Andri. Where is that old hag anyway?
She and her apprentice are hold up in the temple. Hesper runs a brush through her hair. I'm sure you can figure out how to root them out.
He couldn't help his smile growing. I'm sure I can. Unless you're going to end this pest?
Not yet. Though I do have bad news.
The smile faded. What's that?
Eris is most likely dead and you can't have Odia.
He frowned. It was disappointing to be sure. Eris and her daughter, while Andri were not exactly high on his list of priorities, but he had a duty and he was going to accomplish it. Why not?
She's my cousin and Eris' heir so my father thinks giving her over to you would be...
Our deal. Baron snarls. You told me you convinced him. You said, and I quote don't worry you'll get everything you want. What exactly do you not understand about a blood fued? He's standing over her leaning down so that his head doesn't hit the top of the shuttle. Who helped you get your aunt attacked at the temple on Drumond Kaas? She beat me with her severed arm, chased me all over the planet and I nearly died.
You did, Hesper admitted starting to straighten up so that she wasn't completely at his mercy. My father gave you another chance, you were supposed to kill her at that party on Dojan.
She wasn't there. How exactly was I supposed to set an ambush for someone who wound up on a completely different planet?
Yes, that's true but that whole thing with Roman's friend's wife being beaten...
YOUR FATHER HIRED THOSE MEN! His ears were ringing as his blood pressure climbed. I had everything planned perfectly and those idiots were told a tall brunette and attacked a small woman with hair like fire.
I know that, but my father said Eris lived and you didn't hold up your end so...
No. Baron shakes his head and chuckles. It was low at first then grew until it was unhinged. Maniacal. He watched Hesper recoil. No. He snatches her shoulders. I'm not some idiot your father can dupe into doing his dirty work. He glares down at her. I'm going to show him what it means to betray a Regent. He brushed her cheek gently. You get to help me.

Re: Thicker Than Water
Evad watches his wife's face as package after package makes its way past them. When the last of the delivery men leave she plops down on the couch with a puff of her cheeks as if she single handedly drug in each one.
I honestly thought you were upset by the news. Corrina says picking up a small box. She opens it and pulls out the tiniest frilly pink garment he'd ever seen.
Gently he takes it from her and stares at the size. I've had time to accept it. Hesper's words still stung a bit from earlier. Ebony had done a number on him and he'd let her. It was time to move on. Tie up loose ends, just as he'd told Hesper to do. Part of that was moving on. He sets the dress on her stomach. I don't remember Hesper ever being that small.
She presses the dress to her slightly and then puts it back in the box. I'm not even showing yet and you've already decided it's a girl.
Not true. I've got quite the dapper suit in one of these other boxes. He looks around the piles of tiny boxes and bags uh... I may have over did it.
You think? There's no way to know if it's a boy or girl right now it's just a...a vweilu nut.
Ha! Evad shoots out, indeed we'll just refer to it as vweilu for now... He senses Hesper approach as he starts looking through another bag. What do you think...
Corrina's sharp gasp has him turn toward his daughter. She's grabbing at the wall to keep herself standing.
In a blink he's at her side and catches her before she falls. Blood stains his shirt as he clutches her. Hesper?
One of her eyes is swollen shut, there's a cut from her ear to the corner of her mouth. Her breathing was shallow which spoke of internal injuries. Out of her one good eye he could see fear and anger, but mostly pain.
What happened?
He... he wasn't as easy to kill as you thought.
Baron. Evad said his name like a curse. Where is he?
She whispered one last word before passing out Ennme.
Gently he lifts her and lays her on the sofa.
She must have come in the back. Corrina said faintly, still trying to process what was happening. I'll get a doctor...
No. I can't have that sort of attention right now.
You what? She asks incredulously.
Just do what you can for her. She'll understand.
If she lives.
He's never been so close to hitting her. Do what I said. She'll live. He snaps his jacket up off the chair.
Where are you going?
